The Class

Each class consists of a classroom session to discuss all of the course objectives, schedules and equipment needs. We will also spend some time on advanced diving techniques and technologies. Unlike the basic Scuba Diver class, the majority of this course is conducted on site at the open water diving location(s).

The Openwater Dives

This course is designed to GO DIVING and is an opportunity to be introduced to a variety of diving environments and styles and is largely customized to meet your needs and to further prepare you for the type of diving that you want to do.

You will need to complete a total of 6 open water dives to finish your certification course. Although all of the dives can be conducted locally at Dutch Springs, we encourage you to spend only one day at Dutch learning and practicing skills the techniques and skills necessary and preparing for an intriguing day of diving one of the shipwrecks off the coast of New Jersey where you can complete your dives with an instructor.

Your open water dives can also be completed in the warmer water of the Caribbean if you are not interested in preparing yourself for local diving in this area and just want to perfect your skills for vacation/travel diving. If this is your choice, we will need to coordinate to have you join one of our instructors on one of our trips.
